Summerkill's sequel, Falling Backward, pulls Val and Baxter back into two separate long past but unresolved
tragedies. First, while reconfiguring her front yard, Val unearths a buried jewelry box, replete with worthless baubles
from dime stores and one valuable diamond. Next, her new partner, a native plants nurseryman, has become the target
of someone who appears to be out for vengeance. Finding the rightful owner of the diamond and trying to help her partner
both prove hazardous to her health, and to her developing relationship with Baxter.
"Action flows nicely, and Maryann Weber has a good ear for dialog."
